Grove Road Social Centre

We're based in the communal lounge and garden of the Grove Road Estate. The Estate is a sheltered housing scheme for the over-50s between the Red Lion pub and Colmore School, made up of 2 tower blocks with 68 flats, mostly housing single people. We have a residents' association with a committee of 6. We are currently running a Garden Development Project with Community Chest funding and a Social Inclusion Project with Awards for All (part of the Big Lottery Fund) funding.

Highbury Park Friends

Voluntary group dedicated to the preservation, improvement and enjoyment of Highbury Park

Howard's Gardening Friends

Within the group are people with a wide range of horticultural knowledge. Some regard themselves only very simple gardeners while others have specialty interests and plant collections. We aim to provide a horticultural and social based friendly club and to keep members up to date with news trends and tips. Horticultural knowledge is not essential, but an interest is desirable as the group has talks on the subject each month together with day trips to gardens and even extends to holidays both in the UK and abroad. We meet every month in the Bowls hut in Kings Heath Park on the third monday of the month at 10.30am for more information visit www.thedrurys.com

Walkeys - A Social Programme

We are a organisation that uses dogs to bring people together. We currently host a social programme and recruit dog owners, their pets and local young people to come and join us in visiting various organisations to carry out interactive sessions. We also offer support to those who need their dog walking due to a number of issues that might affect their mobility or ability to walk their dog regularly.

We are focused in Kings Heath currently with both parks as a pivotal point for activity. Contact ben.walkeys@gmail.com or give him a ring on 07837739470 to find out more. Or alternatively check out www.time4walkeys.co.uk to get a better idea of the social programme.
