Celebrating Midsummer's Day at Highbury Community Orchard
Did you know that June 24th is Midsummer's day? Apparently various dates between 20 - 24th June have been celebrated as midsummer by different cultures.
So even if you celebrated the longest day / shortest night for the Solstice,you can celebrate all over again on Sunday.
Our plan for the afternoon is very loose, and pretty spontaneous. If the rain holds off, we'll be having a picnic - of sorts!

The Kings Heath sun will be spotty on Wednesday morning
Thanks to Oz for alerting us. Wednesday 6 June is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a transit of Venus. It last happened in 1882 and won't happen again until December 2117.
America is getting most excited and we don't get such a good view in Europe.
Venus, Jupiter, the Moon and the International Space Station provided a fantastic joint display over Birmingham earlier his year. Now Venus does a solo turn by getting in between us and the sun.
