Kings Heath comedy star Barbara Nice is among the line-up of top funny women taking to the stage this evening in a fundraising show to boost the coffers of an organisation supporting women.
The event is hosted by Maureen Younger, the resident MC of the Laughing Cows evenings regularly staged at the Kitchen Garden Cafe.
They will be joined by the award-winning Guardian columnist and comedian Shazia Mirza at the Fun Words comedy night at Birmingham Library Theatre.
Other acts include Birmingham Poet Laureate 2011/12 Jan Watts and ‘Birmingham’s best ginger librarian singer/songwriter’ Hannah Silvester. Annette Fagon and Naomi Paul.
In what organisers describe as "the ultimate girls’ night out", profits will help support the Women’s Networking Hub – a not-for-profit group that currently has no core funding. The Hub links women up with other women to help inspire and activate them – and beat inequality.
Shahida Choudhry, co-ordinator of the Hub said: “There are some really great, funny females on the bill and it should be a brilliant night out. It’s good to see so many talented women on show and I’m so pleased they are all supporting the work we do at the Hub.”
Tickets for the 8pm event, supported by Birmingham City Council and Laughing Cows Comedy Night, cost £12.50 or £10 for concessions. They can be bought at www.WeGotTickets.com
