Teaching award for Colmore's fantastic Mrs Fox
A nursery teacher at Colmore Infant School in Kings Heath has scooped a best newcomer award in the Oscars of the teaching world.
Carol Fox won the Midlands Outstanding New Teacher of the Year in the Pearson Teaching Awards.
Carol qualified as a teacher two years ago after starting out as a teaching assistant. She then completed an Early Years Foundation degree through part day release and evening classes.
She was nominated for an award by an appreciative parent. Anyone can send in 'thank a teacher' messages and thousands of these are then sifted by a panel of expert judges.
"I have never seen anyone be able to think of such wonderful activities in a way that engages every single child like Carol does," commented Colmore Infants head teacher Viv Randall. "She always goes that extra mile to make sure that every child in her care is given every opportunity to excel. The children in the nursery make exceptional progress and attain high levels in everything because of her hard work and dedication."
Mrs Fox's regional award now means she goes forward to a glittering awards ceremony in October where she could pick up one of the national prizes. The ceremony is to be shown on national television.
