The community website for local news, discussion and information
Hi all
I wanted to share a message of thanks from Kate Smart, Kings Heath Town Centre Manager, for all the help and support given by local volunteers prior to Heart of England in Bloom judging day which took place on Wednesday (11th July).
KH is also being judged for the Britain in Bloom national competition in early August - more details on how & when you can help get our town ready for that are at the end of Kate's message:
"Dear Floral Trail supporters
Just a quick note to thank everyone involved for all your support and hard work for our Heart of England in Bloom judging on Wednesday 11th July. The community spirit shown by everyone, in litter picking, graffiti removal, tree feathering, weeding, scraping, etc., in rain & shine, over the two evenings before the judging was fantastic and really encouraging in terms of what else we might be able to achieve as time goes on.
Also, thanks to the many people who took part in the judging day itself. The feedback we had was that the Heart of England judges were very encouraged by the level of community participation in Kings Heath with the many projects we had on show. Without the level of support shown, we just couldn’t have achieved what we did. So please pass on our thanks to anyone else involved that we haven’t yet managed to thank personally.
And fingers crossed we maintain our Gold award!
Now, on to the national Britain in Bloom competition. On Tuesday August 7th, we will have the RHS judges in Kings Heath, evaluating our Britain in Bloom entry. This is our first opportunity to take part in in the national competition and we want to do Kings Heath proud.
So, we’re afraid we’re after more help. Obviously those of you that met the judges are aware that we need you there again (and we’ll be in contact before judging day to confirm details), but it’s the tidy-up before the day that we’ll need further support with. If you are willing and able to help out, please put the following in your diaries:
Meet at 6pm at the BID office (1a Station Road, above Vesey & Clarke – entrance via the car park) on:
Sunday 5th August
Monday 6th August
We’re only asking for a 2hr stint each evening (you can come to just one or both evenings - whichever suits you better) and it was good fun this week, all pulling together, despite the weather!
So please join us and bring some chums - the more of us there are, the quicker we can get to a pub!
Thanks once again for being such stars!"
You can get in touch with Kate by email: kate@enjoykingsheath.com, on Twitter: @KingsHeathTCM or reply to this post.
(Kate will have her own profile on B14kingsheath.net very soon)
