An emergency doctor was flown in by helicopter when an elderly lady was injured in a Kings Heath traffic accident on Saturday afternoon.
The woman suffered a serious leg injury following a collision with a 4x4 vehicle in Alcester Road South, close to Tesco.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene just before 3pm.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a patient who was partly trapped underneath the vehicle," said an ambulance spokesman. “The woman, who is thought to be in her 80s, was conscious and had to be freed with the help of the fire service.
“Ambulance staff assessed her and administered emergency treatment for a serious left leg injury.
“The doctor from the air ambulance, which had landed in a nearby cricket club, administered pain relief before travelling with the patient on a land ambulance in order to continue treatment en-route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
“Nobody else was injured in the collision.”
