Did you know that June 24th is Midsummer's day? Apparently various dates between 20 - 24th June have been celebrated as midsummer by different cultures.
So even if you celebrated the longest day / shortest night for the Solstice, you can celebrate all over again on Sunday.
Our plan for the afternoon is very loose, and pretty spontaneous. If the rain holds off, we'll be having a picnic - of sorts!
We'll just set up on the brick floor at the top of the orchard site. There are plenty of log stools to sit on. We might see about arranging a tarp for cover.
Please bring some food, and maybe some sort of pastime, whether it's games, crafts, music, or just swapping stories.
It isn't Shakespeare - but who knows? MDCC actors have been spotted rehearsing in the park...
Karen says the Orchard inspires her. She has refound her artistic side and wants to make spider's webs and tree faces, and is happy to show you how, if you want a go. Naima has been making bunting again, and is still thinking about doing more macrame work for the trees.
Perhaps we can scout for fairy doors. We spotted a good one the other day.
Lots of other things could happen but it's up to you. We'll be doing minimal preparation and hoping it's good weather!
