So much free sport on offer inspired by Rio 2016

There are free taster sessions today and one day gym passes on offer at Cocks Moors Woods and Billesley Tennis and Fitness Centre as part of Britain's biggest sports day.

The national event is an attempt to get Britain fitter in the wake of the national medal success at the Rio Olympics.

There are also events taking place at parks and open spaces around the city including Billesley Common and Cannon Hill Park, where you can try archery, badminton, rounders and tennis.

Around 50 free events – including belly dancing, cycling and swimming - will take place in many of Birmingham City Council’s parks and leisure centres as part of I Am Team GB, Britain’s biggest sports day.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for people of all ages and abilities across the city to get out and about to try some new activities, following Team GB’s amazing performances in Rio,” comments Birmingham City Council deputy leader Ian Ward.

“Our award-winning parks and popular well-being centres and leisure centres will host a variety of activities, alongside our regular Active Parks events which have helped people become fitter and healthier.”
