Kings Heath-based Stage2 youth theatre is celebrating rave reviews for two of its former members who have gone on to national success.

The company, run by director Liz Light from Springfield Road, has two of its alumni treading the boards at the National Theatre on London's South Bank this week.

Adrian Richards previously played Bottom in the Kings Heath company's performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. He is now starring as the lead role in Suhayla El-Bushra's play The Suicide.

He was singled put for praise in one of the reviews: “The cast is also superb - particularly Adrian Richards who played Sam on the night I saw it." said Kate Gould in the SouthLondonPress.

Meanwhile ex-Member Yolanda Kettle has recently opened at the Lyttelton Theatre at the National in Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea. The play has received 5* reviews including this from TimeOut: "Stunning. Exquisitely sad. Beautifully judged."

Back home, Stage2 Youth Theatre stage their next production at the Crescent Theatre from 13-16 July. It is Spoonface Steinberg by Lee Hall – who wrote Billy Elliot. Book tickets here.
