UpRising are recruiting for their Leadership Programmes!

Flagship Leadership Programme and Environmental Leadership Programme

Aged 19-25?
Want to become a leader in your community?
Want to transform your community for the better?

We are currently recruiting for our two Leadership Programmes including the Flagship Leadership Programme and the brand new Environmental Leadership Programme.

The programmes are designed to equip young people with the knowledge, networks, skills and confidence to reach their leadership potential and take social action on issues they care about. Each programme lasts 9 months and most sessions and workshops take place one evening per week, so that the programme can be fitted around work, study and other commitments.

"The programme unlocked qualities in within me I never knew I had. My confidence increased, I developed many new skills and managed to contribute to my own social action campaign - possibly the proudest moment of my life.” Participant

What is the difference, you may ask?

Both programmes offer participants:

  • Skills and knowledge sessions with senior leaders from a range of sectors providing participants with a unique first-hand view of the way that political, business, public sector and community organisations work together to shape our communities and build a sustainable future.
  • An individually matched coach and a mentor who supports them on a one to one basis throughout their time on the programme.
  • The chance to work with other UpRisers to design and deliver a social action campaign on a issue they are passionate about.
  • A chance to form networks with senior figures, as well as build strong networks amongst their peers on the programme.

The Flagship Leadership Programme:

  • Starts mid-October
  • Social Action Campaigns focus around any issue relevant to communities

The Environmental Leadership Programme:

  • Starts early-November
  • Social Action Campaigns focus around environmental and sustainability issues
  • Includes extra community trips and visits!

Do the Leadership Programmes really help?

  • 96% of UpRisers said the programme had increased the opportunities open to them for success
  • 1 in 5 UpRisers reported setting up a business since completing the programme
  • Over 1 in 4 UpRisers go on to serve as a Trustee or board member for a non-profit organisation
  • 85% of UpRisers said the programme has improved their confidence
  • More than 8 out of 10 UpRisers regard themselves as leaders and feel that they are able to have an impact on the world around them
  • Almost all have of UpRisers report taking practical action to benefit others since being on the programme

Where will the Leadership Programmes take place?

  • All sessions will be delivered in a range of accessible city centre venues to give participants a varied experience of workplaces and also offer additional networking opportunities.
