Volunteers needed for Kings Heath Britain in Bloom

As you may know, Kings Heath has a Britain In Bloom judging day on Tuesday 7th August this year. This is the first time Kings Heath has made it into to National part of In Bloom and it is a great achievement for Kings Heath.
It is also a great opportunity to use the 'leverage' that this gives us to get Birmingham City Council, Centro, BT and other agencies to tackle a range of on-going problems in the KH area. For example we are hopeful that, possibly for the first time in living memory (?), BT will clean all the phone boxes on and around Kings Heath High Street. They have been in an increasingly disgusting state for years.
As well as writing to all the KH businesses and asking them to do what they can to keep their frontages as clean and tidy as possible we are holding 3 volunteer action sessions so that local people can help make a difference to our High Street. We will tackle weeds, litter hot-spots, graffiti, fly-posting and stickering on street furniture, and removal of blue-tac around cash-point machines.
6.00 Wednesday 1st August - Meet outside the Station Pub
We will concentrate on removing any graffiti/fly-posting/stickering in the High Street area and also removal of blue-tac from around cash-points. If there are enough of us we will also take a walk through Highbury Park and up to Avenue Road and deal with any graffiti etc that we find.
Please bring gloves, black bin bags and anything you can think of that will be useful.

6.00 Sunday 5th August - Meet outside the Station Pub
This will be a weeding session in the High Street area so please bring gloves, a spade/hoe, brush and green bags

6.00 Monday 6th August - Meet outside the Station Pub
This will be the final clean-up before judging involving litter-picking particular hot-spots and anything else that needs doing including cleaning the phone boxes if BT haven't already done so. Please bring gloves and black bags.
Contact details for the session - Michelle 07773 390904, michelle.sadler@blueyonder.co.uk
We will be able to provide some equipment.
Late-comers are always welcome
We will retire to a cafe or pub for a complimentary drink after each session.
Hope you can make it
